Edward and Breda Donovan live on the farm with his parents John and Eileen and their two daughters Aoife and Caoimhe. He has been farming since 2014 and believes it’s the ideal enterprise to support two families on a 78 hectare land base. He works the farm with his father and a hired labour unit relief milker when required. Edward believes in maximising the physical and financial performance of the farm but doing so in a manner that is sustainable. They increased cow numbers from 47 in 2014 to 203 this year and have a 24 unit milking parlor. The farm has been in the family for over fifty years.
